What do we do?

We work with campaign groups, schools, archives, libraries, youth programmes, community groups and individuals running social impact projects. We collaborate to:

  • Design powerful, accessible zines

  • Create custom zine workshop kits

  • Run zine-making sessions

  • Co-create projects rooted in lived experience and collective imagination, documented in a zine

We're interested in expanding what zines can be. Working across audio, performance, visual art and digital media zines become shared, multi-sensory tools for world-making, extending beyond static pages.

Whether you need a bespoke zine for a project or support running a community workshop, we bring creativity and care to all the projects we work on.

From prison justice campaigns to refugee solidarity, from youth creativity to building better cities we use zine-making as a way to share stories, explore ideas, document movements and imagine better futures.

Our projects create space for radical imagination - dreaming up new possibilities and exploring the worlds we want to see. We also offer accessibility PDFs and large format versions.

ZINE WORKSHOPS

We run zine-making sessions working with our network of artists to create sessions around different themes, ideas and projects.

Sessions can be based around one of the zines in our archive, using it as a starting point for learning and discussion, or can be developed around your own project.

Zine-making can help you capture the impact of a project, explore an idea, dream up a new project or embed care into your work.

what our clients have to say…

“Working with Shelby x Studios is a dream. They are able to take our ideas and bring them into something more creative than we could have ever imagined. Their wonderfully clear, iterative and care-filled process, pays real attention to issues of inclusivity, access and equity. We can’t wait to work with them again soon!”

BRISTOL IDEAS

“Shelby x Studios was a fantastic facilitator for our young people, leading a workshop on making mini zines based on topics that were important to them. They kept the young people engaged and excited, and set up a safe space in which participants felt comfortable to share their experiences and ideas.”

ART AGAINST KNIVES

“The zine brilliantly brought back the feeling of joy from all the amazing creative events held during Refugee Week. We love the colours, the design and the inclusion of so many participant comments. Thank you for all your hard work on this beautiful contribution to our Borough of Culture.”
